INDIAN LAKE PROJECT

Merci.

INDIAN LAKE PROJECT Box_opened.0
« When my uncle found an old metal box in the woods near Indian Lake, New York, he did not know it contained
a mystery. The contents of that box are now beginning to shed light on events that took place fifty years ago.

Start at the beginning of the story...

Sunday, October 02, 2005

On July 9, 1997 my uncle was hiking in a wooded area around Indian Lake, New York. He tripped on what he thought was a tree root sticking slightly above ground. When he looked back he noticed the corner of this box above ground. The fact that he was far from any marked path or road, and was in an area that few if any usually hike, sparked his curiosity. The box was sticking up by only 2 or 3 inches, and from the look of the ground around the box, he figured it had been there quite a while. With only sticks to dig with, it took him a while to pry it from the ground. The 3 shapes on the top of the box (an upside down triangle and two circles), where only apparent after it was later cleaned up. The box had no lock on it and was easily opened. Inside the box my uncle found 21 water-damaged photos, 3 8mm home movie reels, and various documents. Most of the photos are of children which led my uncle to fear the worst... that he had stumbled upon evidence of a crime involving children. He mentioned that his blood ran cold when the began reading the documents also found in the box. He indeed had stumbled upon a crime involving children, but instead of some child molester, it seemed that these children were all part of some United States Government experimentation. Those experiments where known as the I.L.P or the Indian Lake Project.
In 2002, my uncle died. This box was given to me shortly before he passed away. He was afraid of the contents in the box, and wished he had never found it. I feel it is my obligation to share it's contents, and the truth behind what had been burried for 50 years.

This is the metal box found near Indian Lake, New York.
I am in the process of scanning the contents of the box and will post those scans as soon as posible.

Here are some of the photos from the metal box showing part of the I.L.P. Military Base. It was a non permanent government installation located deep in the woods around Indian Lake, New York. Based on documents found in the metal box, it was in operation from 1952-1955 and was used in part by Army, Naval, and Air Force Intelligence officers throughout those years. It's existence was highly classified, and very few other than essential personnel even knew of the base or of it's location.

Here are 2 picture also found in the metal box. They show military personel with I.L.P. (Indian Lake Project) children. Although no writing was found on the photographs to indicate who is pictured, it appears both boys and girls where housed at the base.

"Roger", "Sam" and "Sally" are the quoted names (along with numbers) printed on the face of the photos. These are obviously not the children's real names, but assigned names. As I looked at the names and numbers the first time my uncle showed them to me, I didn't quite grasp what it meant. I remember what my uncle had told me, " 'Roger', was probably one child out of 837 (based on his number) kept at the camp." His word "kept" struck me as both, erie and accurate.

The numbers circled in red on both "Sally" and "Roger's" photographs are, I believe, the age of the children at the time of placement.

Take a close look at these 2 pictures. Are these two little girls one in the same? Was the second picture taken a year or two after the first? If so, that would further illustrate that the camp's children were raised by military personnel.

There is so much to still piece together, but there is much that has been learned by studying the contents of the metal box. There are not many days that I don't think about the I.L.P., it is like a giant mystery and I am the only one who knows about it. It's not like you can just find the answers in a history book, because this history was kept hidden. Was the metal box buried to hide the past forever, or was it buried by someone hoping that someday the horrid truth would be exposed? Who buried it and why is a question I ask myself everyday.

I think this photo is very telling, and was included in the box for a reason. It shows 2 men, one civilian and one military. The civilian man, perhaps one of the scientists or project directors, is recognizable. The second man has purposely had his face obscured. It looks as if the photo is telling us that this civilian is important to the I.L.P. while trying to protect the identity of the officer he is shown with. Could that officer be the man who's box it was? Was he trying to shed light on the subject without exposing himself? Maybe the civilian is a key figure in the tragic Indian Lake Project experiments. Look closely in-between the two men and you can see one of the I.L.P. children.

This sequence of stills is from 1 of the 3 movie reels found in the box. It shows at least 4 children, within a cage like area, receiving a meal. I hope to post portions of all the movie reels as soon as I can.

These are photos of "Roger". All of these photos share the number 837 and show "Roger" at different ages. It is apparent that the children of the I.L.P. were in the possession of the military for a number of years. "Roger" had the most pictures in the box, and was perhaps the responsibility of the owner of the box. Or maybe he was an important child for other some reason, I don't know. I also don't know why "Roger" is sitting at a table for a meal, yet I have a movie that, in part, shows children being fed through a cage. What I do know is that these few pictures are all that is left of "Roger", which is more than most of the I.L.P. children have.

Here are a couple of great questions from my e-mail that I wanted to share.

  • Q: What do you think the nature of this base was?
A: It was a military installation which conducted experiments in both mind control, and to a lesser extent ESP using children. Although I have some evidence from the box that they used adults at first, children replaced them when it was realized that a child's mind is much easier to condition.

  • Q: Where did all the kids come from?
A: I can tell you what I know. At least 2 orphanages in up state NY authorized "adoptions" for persons with a military background (or who where currently in the military) almost exclusively during the years of 1952-1955. I also think it is possible for children who went missing during those years from the surrounding areas to be part of the I.L.P.'s numbers.

  • Q: You say your uncle died. Do you think he died because of he found the box, and the military had him "taken care of"?
A: No. He died from lung cancer, after a short period of remission.

Thank you for all you comments/questions – keep them coming.

There are several pictures that have common numbers on them. I showed you in an earlier post that both "Sally" and "Roger" had a number 4 on their photos, and what I thought those numbers meant. Above are two more pictures that have common numbers on them. However, this time I have no theory on why the number (16) appears on each photo. Perhaps someone reading this might be able to offer an idea. In the first photo, the number is easily seen in the upper right corner. In the second photo, a sixteen is visible in the lower right corner.
Notice that the second photo has severe water damage. The photos from the box that show the most damage where either on the top or bottom of the contents in the box – therefore protecting the center photos and documents.

Above are 3 frames from the second of the 3 movie reels. It shows children listening to what I believe to be hi-frequency sounds. Perhaps these sounds were used to stimulate programed responses, or used in conditioning (as shown). These clips only show the controller’s hands and never their face. The children all have a slightly apprehensive look on their face, yet they never look upset. I feel this work was done on the children's own level, perhaps as part of a “game”. Once the child’s trust was built, the cornerstone of the conditioning process was in place.
One final note, I have never viewed these movies properly, I am afraid that doing so could damage them (they are not in very good shape on the whole). Therefore, I don’t know if there is sound, which is a shame because that could answer some questions.

Project ARTICHOKE was a CIA project that researched interrogation methods and arose from project BLUEBIRD in 1951. The project studied hypnosis, among other methods, to produce amnesia in subjects.
Project ARTICHOKE was an offensive program of mind control that gathered together the intelligence divisions of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and FBI. I believe the ILP (Indian Lake Project) was a part of Project ARTICHOKE.
The scope of the project was outlined in a memo dated January 1952 that stated, "Can we get control of an individual to the point where he will do our bidding against his will and even against fundamental laws of nature, such as self preservation?"
Project ARTICHOKE was renamed project MKULTRA in 1953 (see links for more information) and was first brought to wide public attention by the U.S. Congress – in the form of the Church Committee and a presidential commission – known as the Rockefeller Commission.
Central Intelligence Agency documents suggest that the agency considered and explored uses of radiation for the purpose of mind control as part of MKULTRA. Other early efforts focused on LSD, which appears to have formed the majority of research as time went on. Experiments included dosing CIA employees, military personnel, other government agents, prostitutes, mental patients, and members of the general public with LSD to study their reactions, usually without the subject's knowledge. When Project ARTICHOKE became MKULTRA, the ILP’s roll was reduced, and then eliminated. There are many declassified documents from the congressional hearings (see link). None however, mentions very young children (12 or younger) being used in MKULTRA experiments. I think by then, the ILP was buried – both literally and figuratively.

Please explore the new links to find out more.

Above is a seemingly random picture that was also included in the box. Shown is a soldier in a wooded area, such as can be found around Indian Lake, NY. I say seemingly random, because it begs the questions – why would the person trying to bury this box include such a picture? Wouldn’t burning these pictures have been smarter than hiding this type of evidence, if the intent was to get rid of it? I believe the answer is that whomever buried the box, either wanted it to be found, or was going to come back for it.
I can’t imagine random photos were permitted on an installation such as Indian Lake. Therefore, the person that buried the box probably took this picture and most of the others. This person must have been someone with proper clearance, and seeing him with a camera was not given a second thought. I believe it was probably he who took not only the exterior and interior shots of the base, but also took the shots of the military personnel posing proudly with the children. I believe in shooting the things he shot, he was documenting the people of interest at the ILP. Perhaps at first he was fully compliant with the goings on, but I believe at some point he changed his mind, and began collecting evidence. The shot above is a quickly snapped shot. The subject is not centered or even ready for the shot. This was probably done towards the end of the ILP. I don’t think he shot the small pictures of "Roger", "Sam" and "Sally", these are on a thicker stock and seem to be a more like a Polaroid type of process. A few posts back I showed a picture of a civilian, and a military person with his face purposely obscured, in between them a child could be seen in the shadows. The more I look at that photo, the more I believe that that is probably the man who buried the box.

Here are some questions from this week’s e-mail:

  • Q: Have you ever been to the area where your uncle found the box?
A: This is a timely question. I fly out today (Friday), to attend my cousin's wedding this weekend in upstate NY. I took today off from work and I’m taking an earlier flight, just so I can visit the area. Finding the exact location where my uncle found the box will probably never happen, but I know approximately where it was found. I believe the box was buried outside of the ILP grounds, and therefore, looking in the general area and keeping my eyes open might yield something new. I have been there three times with my metal detector, and will post pictures from all combined visits when I get back.

  • Q: Do you think the Indian Lake Project was part of MK-ULTRA?
A: The short answer is yes. This question prompted my October 11th post – feel free to read for a longer answer. To find out more, I posted a couple of MKULTRA links on the right. You can also do a Google search on MKULTRA or MK-ULTRA, and you will find several pages of information on this very real piece of American history.

That’s it for now.

I’m back from NY. I just got home, and had to rush to post these pictures. I can’t describe the feeling I got after being in the woods for about 3 hours and then seeing these structures. I don’t know what they are, but I know they don’t belong in the middle of the woods. This, to me, is clear evidence that something went on in the woods near Indian Lake, New York. I will post more later.

Tuesday, October 18, 2005

This quick trip to NY for a my cousins wedding, turned up my most incredible discovery yet. Besides the metal box my uncle originally found, these concrete structures are the “jackpot” when it comes to evidence that indeed something man made did exist in the woods near Indian Lake NY.
When my uncle gave me the box in 2002, he also gave me a hand drawn map of the approximate area where the box was discovered. I’ve been to that area three times. On the second visit, I found a 1947 nickel with my White’s DFX metal detector. This is still a very important clue, however, it could have be lost by someone without any connection to the Indian Lake Project. On the other hand, these structures in the middle of nowhere show deliberate activity. These structures are about 3-4 stories tall, they have no top, no sides and form a square. They are very deep in the woods with nothing leading to, or away from them. This area also seems to be a little less wooded, as if cleared at one point, but now overgrown.
I never really understood my uncle when he said that he wished he had never found the box. How could he not embrace his discovery? However, finding those structures while alone in the woods was erie. I began to feel I was not alone out there, it was a very odd feeling. Everything became very real to me, the box, the children and the isolation. My walk out of the woods was a little faster than my walk in, and I now realize what my uncle meant. Finding something like this is proof to oneself that things are not ever as they seem. That your happy little life is something rare, and that lies and deceit are common. Your innocence is over, and you have discovered a hidden truth. I now know how my uncle felt, because it became just that much more real for me.

The problem with this puzzle is that there is nothing to look at when putting it together. I only have the pieces, and nothing to show what it will look like when it is finished.
I’ve always thought that the man in the “wedding photo” was a key figure, but not anymore. Yesterday I placed all the images on the bed to look at them, as I’ve done many times. Never before had these two particular photos been placed next to each other. After seeing them side by side, I realized that the woman is the key figure, not the man. It is the same woman as in the picture with the little girl. The “wedding photo” has always seemed an odd choice for the box, but now I see there is some connection there. All the pieces are not in place, but I feel as if I’ve connected two more.

This week’s e-mail questions:

  • Q: You said that you also have documents - when will you share those?
A: I go back and forth on this. Some of these documents have names and dates of people and places that could prove damaging to those involved. My growing fear is that this was a cover-up, and those that cover things like this up don’t want to have their names posted on the internet. They probably don’t want pictures either, but it is too late for that. However, to name names is the next big step, and I’m not sure I’m ready to take it yet.

  • Q: What else can you tell me about those structures in the woods?
A: As I said before, erie. They didn’t make sense being there, and I still don’t have any idea what they are/were. I took quite a few pictures, and perhaps I will post more later. If anyone has any ideas – please send them to indianlakeproject@earthlink.net
A few of you have already done so, and I thank you for your thoughts.

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to receive e-mail notification regarding updates for the Indian Lake Project. It appears I was having a bit of trouble with the Bloglet function, but it should be all fixed and working properly now.

During the week this blog went over the 1,000 unique user mark.
Thank you, and keep spreading the word!

That’s it for now.

Wednesday, October 26, 2005

Since my last post a lot of things have happened to me which make me believe that posting anymore items from the box would not be in my best interest. I have had numerous phone calls, only to hear silence on the other end (as many as 20 times a day). My house was broken into and "searched", but nothing was taken. The box, and it's contents, had been securely hidden outside of my home. I did this shortly after the phone calls began. It is obvious to me that I hit a nerve when I mentioned the documents I have, and that I was considering perhaps posting them at some point. I am no longer going to post anything. I am done. I hope anyone who stumbles onto this site will read it from the beginning, and continue to stay interested in this story. For those of you who have followed this blog I am sorry, but my family and their peace of mind come first. As disturbing as these photos and documents are, the last few days for me, and my family, have been even more so, which is why I am saying goodbye.

Tuesday, June 27, 2006

After careful consideration, and much encouragement from your countless e-mails, I have decided to begin to post once again. My apprehension is only countered by my determination to find answers, and bring awareness to those children who became victims of the Indian Lake Project during the years 1952-1955. Much has happened since I stopped posting, and I will share with you what I feel I can at this time. This is a horrifying true-life mystery that for me will not go away.
Please check back soon.

Friday, June 30, 2006

It feels good to be back. This is about the only place I feel I can get my thoughts/discoveries out to the public. Like I said before much has happened since I stopped posting, in short my wife and I have separated, and about 3 weeks ago I moved to New York. Being closer to Indian Lake, I am able to visit the area I believe is connected to The Indian Lake Project - which has yielded some interesting finds.
With more time to explore the area I have found more of the concrete structures, which I now believe to be supports for a road. Once I located a few more I realized that they where all perfectly aligned. It is now clear to me there used to be a road in the middle of the woods. Perhaps this was the road into and out of the camp itself. I am currently exploring more to find either the end of the “road” or the beginning. I will keep you posted.
Another interesting thing is that I received an e-mail from a woman who claimed to have first-hand knowledge of the camp. After several e-mails back and forth, and a few phone calls - I believe her. She is one of the main reasons I have begun to post again, and I will be posting her story in the near future.
As always, feel free to send me an e-mail to offer your thoughts.

Monday, July 10, 2006

In February 2006 I received an e-mail from a woman who claimed to have first hand knowledge of the camp. With her permission I am posting the first e-mail she sent to me. I have withheld information at her request.

    Dear John S.,
I reached your website through the XXXXXXXXXX website forums page. On it I was surprised to read the words “Indian Lake Project”. My father was stationed at the camp that was known as the ILP in 1955. His name was XXXXXXXXXX, I’d be interested in knowing if his name is mentioned in any of the documents you have in your possession.
As a little girl I used to overhear my mother and father talking about the children of the ILP. I could tell you things that would make your jaw drop to the floor. You are close, but I can fill in the blanks.

    Sincerely,
    XXXXXXXXXX
His name WAS on the camp personnel manifest for ALL years – not just 1955.
There is absolutely no way anyone would know that name, and it’s connection to the Indian Lake Project, unless she was who she said she was. Before I immediately responded, I began to think that maybe this was somehow a way to, for whatever reason, gain my confidence and begin to manipulate me. I did not e-mail back for a 3 weeks while I went over it all in my mind. This was obviously someone who knew something. In March I finally decided to see where this journey was going to take me next and I responded. I have since learned a lot more about the ILP, the children, the experiments and the men and woman who worked there. I believe this person to be genuine, and will post more of her information soon.

On a side note I am sorry I have not posted as frequently as everyone would like. I am in a new city, at a new job and very much in over my head with this obsession.

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

After being in contact with the woman I mentioned in my last post for the past several months, I am beginning to have second thoughts about her and her motives. I agreed, at her suggestion that we work together on this “project”. We began to share what each of us had. Her knowledge based on her father’s military career and connection to the camp, and my documents, pictures and film. Maybe I should have known better, but when you find someone who has knowledge of something like this you just get sucked in. I began to grow suspicious of her when she wanted me to send her the originals – so that she could “see them in person”. Something I did not do. She was more than willing to send me personal effects left by her father – which seemed odd to me. There have been several things she has said or told me that don’t add up, and my feeling now is that she is not sincere in her motives, or that she is even who she says she is. I have cut off all communications with her, and I am back on my own. She did have genuine knowledge that I could specifically confirm, but where she got that knowledge keeps me up at night. The worst part is, all the information I’ve gathered from her over the past months is suspect at best, and pure deception at worst.

INDIAN LAKE PROJECT MK_Ultra_Girl_c1961a

This is NOT part of the metal box content I have in my possession, however I wanted to share with you a picture I found on the web. I don’t know the origin of the picture, but the date indicated with the picture is 1961. The typed paper on the center of the photo reads:

Unidentified white female between the age 8 and 10 years old. Subject underwent 6 months of treatment using heavy doses of LSD, electroshock and sensory deprivation. Experiments under codename: MKULTRA about early 60s. Subject’s memory was erased and her brain is that of a newborn baby.

This is one of a few connections between MKULTRA and children I have found other than what I have. The MKULTRA experiments are usually associated with adults, but there seems to be other confirmations to what my uncle discovered in the metal box near Indian Lake.

Friday, October 06, 2006

I have a new email address to use when sending your questions and comments.

indianlakeproject@inbox.com

Monday, October 09, 2006

Over the weekend someone sent me an e-mail asking why, if the government has disclosed information on MKULTRA, is the Indian Lake Project not part of those declassified papers or testimony?
That is a great question. Although I believe that what happened at Indian Lake is part of the various MKULTRA type projects, it was different, it was specifically designed to experiment on children. That being said, the question remains. Why?
It is my belief that the answer is simple – it is still going on today. Not at Indian Lake, but the lessons learned at Indian Lake are the fuel for what could possibly be a vast brain-washing and mind-controlled network of operatives living amongst us today. I know it sounds like it could be straight out of the X-files, but there is a saying, ‘sometimes truth is stranger than fiction’, and in this case I agree.

Tuesday, October 10, 2006

One of the films I have shows several interior and exterior clips of the military base that was home to the Indian Lake Project. In these few still frames you can see that the base was equipped with the means to house several children. I also have a picture of a bed (see October 7, 2005 post), not a cot as shown in the film, perhaps suggesting that there could have been different areas to deal with the different stages of the child’s life inside the base.

I don't know what this is, perhaps a storage shed, but I found this in August on one of my many trips into the woods over the summer. I will post more pictures and video of my findings later, but I wanted to get this up now to show you that there is no doubt that something went on in the woods around Indian Lake in the 1950's. This is just one small clip of many I shot, and it is what I believe to be part of the former base known as the I.L.P. .
